Summary: The SmartSign Plus Credentials section on the Setup page has been enhanced to improve credential management and data entry.
What's Changed
  • Credential fields have been expanded to display longer values, making it easier to view and verify complete credential information.
  • Trailing whitespace is now automatically removed from credential values when entered, helping prevent configuration issues caused by unintended spaces.

Benefit: These improvements make SmartSign Plus credentials easier to review and help reduce errors caused by accidental whitespace in credential fields.
DGS: Enhanced EZConfig Default Data Merging with Organization Name Support

Summary: Document Generation Services (DGS) now supports merging EZConfig Default Data using an organization's name when generating documents through the DocumentService Generate REST API.

Previously, default data merging worked when an organization was identified by OrgID, and supported scenarios that included both OrgName and a product. With this enhancement, default data can also be merged when OrgName is provided without a product, ensuring consistent behavior across organization identification methods.

When mergeEZConfig is configured as LogoAndDefaultData, DGS can now retrieve and merge EZConfig Default Data using the organization's name, along with alias and line-of-business information, through the SubmitDefaultDataByName gateway method.

Summary: Expere Document Services - Hosted Expere, Document Generation Services (DGS) and DGS Core DocViewer products now support the optional storage of data entered through DocViewer sessions. When enabled, previously entered document data can be retained and reused during future document generation requests, reducing the need to re-enter information and improving the user experience when revisiting documents or transactions. Existing integrations remain unaffected unless this feature is explicitly enabled. The following BeginSession options have been added:

Expere: Packet-level barcode cover sheet generation with total page count
Summary: The Expere Engine has been updated to generate barcode cover sheets as the first document in output packets, with packet-level metadata (including total page count) encoded in the barcode, and customizable barcode patterns.
Impact: With this new barcode cover sheet, users can now prepend a customizable barcode cover sheet to packets, with support for automation of scanning and indexing processes. Cover sheet generation logic applies only to documents produced by the Expere Engine and adheres to existing configuration and naming conventions.

Expere SmartSign Plus® integration: Package Email Template Selection Added
Summary: You can now specify an email template through the use of a new /Txn/EOriginalSSPlusEmailTemplateID XPath; this allows you to designate the SmartSign Plus email template by unique ID during package setup in Expere.
Impact: This enhancement provides more flexible and targeted communication by letting you select which SmartSign Plus email template is used for each package delivery.

Expere: SmartSign Plus® integration
Summary: as part of our ongoing work to integrate SmartSign Plus® with Expere, the following functionality has been implemented for the January release:
  • EOriginalVaultName and EOriginalTransactionTypeName noted as optional elements (PBI 875061): the SmartSign Plus Feature Guide has been updated to note that the following XPaths should be considered optional when passing these in a request:
    • /Txn/EOriginalVaultName
    • /Txn/EOriginalTransactionTypeName
  • Improved Handling of Package Destruction Requests (PBI 906301): the SmartSign Plus integration was enhanced to handle package IDs more gracefully in redraw requests.

WCAG: Expere Engine enhanced to support embedded and Tagged .PDF's

Summary: as a part of our continued effort to create WCAG compatible documents we have updated the Expere Engine to now support the generation of Tagged .PDF documents. We will continue making enhancements to the Expere Engine for Tagged .PDF support, so check back for items being identified and corrected. As part of our continued work to support Tagged .PDF's, we have implemented enhancements to resolve the following WCAG-related changes in the January release:
  • Reference symbols / notes tagging behavior enhanced (PBI 845003): reference symbols (for example: "SM" or "*") and their related notes are now tagged using the <Reference> and <Note> tags, respectively, in the Adobe Acrobat tag tree for dynamic and Embedded PDF documents. This provides the user with proper context and allows them to navigate and interact with the data at their discretion.
  • <Lbl> tagging behavior enhanced (PBI 884956): the Expere Engine has been enhanced so that <P> tags are no longer present as child tags of <Lbl> tags in a tagged dynamic or Embedded PDF document.
Expere: Improved PDF Tag Structure for Overflow Field Descriptions

  • Heading-Based Bookmarks: Bookmarks are now authored with appropriate heading tags when applicable; for example: H1 - <HeadingText>.
  • Overflow Page Tagging: Overflow pages are displayed as <P> tags in the tag tree, ensuring proper semantic structure.
  • Bookmark Exclusions: Overflow page descriptions are no longer added as bookmarks, reducing clutter and improving navigation.
Impact: these updates enhance document accessibility and ensure compliance with tagging best practices, making navigation clearer for assistive technologies.
Expere Engine: Improved filesystem-only configuration

What's Changed? The underlying Saxon-HE XML processing update applies to the Expere Engine, Hosted Expere environment, and Document Generation Services. Comprehensive regression testing and content comparison validation were performed to ensure system stability.

Expere Engine: Monthly Component Updates

Summary: As part of a regular cadence to review and upgrade any items used with the Expere Engine for security issue and monthly component upgrades, we have upgraded the following items to the latest version:
  • Amazon Corretto Java was updated to the latest available version.
  • WildFly was updated to the latest available version.
What's Changed? Core components of the Expere system were updated to ensure optimal security and performance. This is part of our regular maintenance schedule to keep the system current with the latest available versions of critical infrastructure components.
